The centre is left open, which turns the lamp into a quiet focal point: a halo of purple stone with room to breathe at its heart.

What you'll notice

The amethyst is left raw. Each piece keeps its jagged, uneven edges, so the ring reads as a gathering of natural stones rather than a polished band.

Switched on, the light moves through the stone in layers. Some pieces glow a soft lilac, others deepen to plum and nearly black where the crystal is thicker.

The matt black frame and round base stay out of the way, so the colour of the stones does the work.

A cable trails from the back of the base, so it sits best near a socket on a shelf, sideboard or bedside table.

Form and light

The open circle is the whole idea. Stones follow the inside curve of the frame, and the light behind them picks out every facet and flaw. No two pieces take the glow in quite the same way, so the ring has a slightly irregular rhythm that a symmetrical lamp could not copy. In a dim room it throws a gentle purple wash onto the wall behind it. It is ambient and decorative, more of a mood than a reading light.

Materials

The lamp is made from gemstone and iron. The iron forms the frame and base, finished in black, while the natural amethyst fills the ring. Because the stones are natural, the exact shades and shapes will vary from one lamp to the next.

Living with it

Choose a dry spot on a stable surface where the cable can reach a socket. Dust the stones and frame with a soft, dry brush or cloth.

Lamps of this kind usually take a small-screw bulb and come with a fitted cable and an inline switch, but the bulb type, whether one is included, and the plug fitting vary between items, so check the listing or the box before you plug it in. An incandescent bulb gives off gentle warmth, so the lamp may feel warm to the touch in use. This is normal.

Amethyst in tradition

Amethyst has long been associated with calm and clarity, and in crystal tradition it is linked to the crown chakra. Many people keep a piece in the room where they unwind, as a small reminder to slow down and settle. Here the stones sit in a ring around an empty centre, which suits that idea of a pause in the day.

A considered gift

It suits someone who loves minerals, makes a calm corner of their home, or simply enjoys a soft, coloured light in the evening. It works as a display piece first, and the glow is a bonus.

Common questions

Is it bright enough to light a room?
No. It gives a soft, coloured glow meant for atmosphere, so pair it with a main light if you need to see clearly.

Will every lamp look the same as the photo?
Not exactly. The amethyst is natural and left raw, so the size, shape and depth of purple in each stone will differ a little.

Can I clean it with a damp cloth?
We would advise against it. Use a soft, dry brush or cloth only, and keep the lamp away from moisture.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0756/8307/0266/files/gemstone-halo-lamp-zen-spirit-amethyst-cover.png?v=1790953348
