It suits anyone who likes to change the mood of a room through the week and wants a few herbal scents to move between rather than committing to just one.

What you'll notice

Six blends sit side by side in the set: Blue Sage, Lavender, Yerba Santa, Black Sage, Eucalyptus and Royal Sage, each in its own colour-coded pack.

Eucalyptus brings a clean, cooling note, while lavender leans softer and more floral, so the set covers brisk mornings and quieter evenings alike.

The packs are hexagonal, a neat shape that keeps six different scents tidy and easy to choose between.

A slim green wooden holder is in the box, so you can light one and set it down straight away.

The scents

White sage has long been burned for its dry, herbal, slightly resinous aroma, and this collection takes that idea in six directions. Blue Sage and Black Sage sit closest to the classic herbal character. Yerba Santa, a plant native to the western Americas, adds a deeper, more aromatic edge. Lavender and eucalyptus lean floral and fresh, and Royal Sage rounds out the set. The names point to the herb that inspired each blend, so think of them as sage-inspired fragrances in stick form.

Burning

These are self-lighting sticks. Hold the coated tip to a flame for a few seconds, blow it out so it glows, then stand the plain end in the holder. Incense sticks like these usually burn for somewhere around thirty to sixty minutes, though the exact time varies from blend to blend. Burn in a ventilated room and never leave a lit stick unattended.

The making

HEM is one of the best-known names in Indian incense, and this set follows its familiar hexagonal pack format. The sticks are fragranced rather than raw herb, so expect the scent to read as a blend inspired by each plant, not a bundle of dried leaves smouldering.

What's in the box

One assorted pack of six hexagonal boxes, one for each blend, plus a green wooden ashcatcher holder. The packaging is labelled in several languages, and the outer sleeve explains the sage tradition behind the collection. It makes a tidy introduction to herbal incense for yourself or as a gift for someone who likes to try new scents.

Common questions

Do I need a separate holder?
No. A wooden ashcatcher comes with the set, so you can light a stick as soon as you open the box.

Can I try each scent separately?
Yes. Each blend has its own pack, so you can burn one at a time and compare them across the week.

Is it suited to small rooms?
Sage-led blends can be fairly present in a closed space, so for smaller rooms open a window slightly or start with a single stick.

Please note: this design ships in assorted colours, so the exact shade you receive may vary.
