Questo cluster di apofillite bianca mostra una brillante lucentezza vitrea, che varia da trasparente a leggermente velata. Cristalli interconnessi si ergono in terminazioni nette, le loro fratture interne e piccole inclusioni catturano la luce. Alcuni pezzi poggiano su una matrice di basalto grigio scuro o nero, un contrasto sorprendente che incornicia la crescita e intensifica lo scintillio. Grezzo e non lucidato, i bordi rimangono fedeli alla terra. 🪨

Formatasi nelle cavità dei flussi di basalto del Deccan in India, l'apofillite è ammirata dai collezionisti per la sua chiarezza e le facce riflettenti. Il nome deriva da radici greche che significano “sfaldare”, un riferimento alla sua perfetta sfaldatura e agli strati delicati — una piccola storia minerale che puoi tenere in mano.
