La fragranza del Palo Santo
Palo Santo significa «legno sacro» in spagnolo, e sulla confezione compare anche il nome spagnolo Madera Sagrada, «legno sacro». Il nome richiama il lungo uso rituale di questo legno in Sud America, dove il suo fumo dolce e balsamico viene tradizionalmente bruciato durante cerimonie e rituali. Questo bastoncino è una fragranza ispirata a quel legno, proposta qui come contesto culturale e come piacere per i sensi.

Si tratta di bastoncini d'incenso HEM, prodotti in India, un Paese con una lunga tradizione nella produzione di incenso arrotolato. Il Palo Santo non è una fragranza indiana per origine, quindi consideralo l'interpretazione di un produttore indiano di una fragranza legnosa molto amata. È un bastoncino profumato: aspettati quindi un profilo aromatico descritto dal produttore come caldo e legnoso, non legno grezzo bruciato da solo.
Come bruciarlo
Accendi l'estremità rivestita, lascia che la fiamma duri qualche secondo, poi spegnila soffiando, in modo che la punta resti incandescente e inizi a fumare. Inserisci l'estremità non rivestita in un porta-incenso resistente al calore, con un raccoglicenere sotto. Bastoncini d'incenso come questi di solito bruciano per circa trenta-sessanta minuti, anche se la durata varia da un prodotto all'altro: controlla quindi i dettagli della scheda di questo prodotto. Brucia l'incenso in un ambiente ventilato, su una superficie stabile, e non lasciarlo mai incustodito.
