Mitä rudraksha-helmet ovat
Rudraksha-helmet ovat Elaeocarpus ganitrus -puun siemeniä. Puu kasvaa Himalajan juurella ja osissa Kaakkois-Aasiaa. Nimi tulee sanskritista: rudra (Shiva) ja aksha (silmä). Siemeniä on pujotettu nauhoihin ja käytetty koruina hindulaisissa ja buddhalaisissa perinteissä vuosisatojen ajan, meditaatiossa, rukouksissa ja päivittäisissä harjoituksissa. Jokaisessa siemenessä on luonnostaan uurteita. Uurteiden määrää kutsutaan nimellä mukhi (kasvot), ja eri lukumääriin liittyy perinteisessä käytössä erilaisia merkityksiä.
Ranteessa
Helmet asettuvat tiiviisti ihoa vasten ja tuntuvat sileiltä, ja puu tuntuu lämpimältä ihoa vasten. Joustavan nyörin ansiosta rannekoru on helppo pujottaa ranteeseen. Hopeinen Buddha on pieni ja litteä: koristeellinen yksityiskohta, ei painava lisä. Tällaiset tummat rudraksha-siemenet ovat usein vanhempia tai niitä on tarkoituksella vanhennettu. Väri syvenee käytössä ja ihon luonnollisten öljyjen vaikutuksesta.
