Il profumo
- La cumarina si percepisce per prima, con una dolcezza delicata che ricorda il fieno e una lieve sfumatura di mandorla; poi arriva la vaniglia, che smussa le note più pungenti e le avvolge in un profumo rotondo e morbido.
- La yara yara, una morbida polvere aromatica di fiori d'arancio, si nasconde sotto le note più dolci, evitando che la miscela diventi stucchevole.
- Il fumo è delicato e persiste senza essere invadente: è quindi piacevole da bruciare in una stanza piccola o mentre si legge.
- Ha la ricchezza tipica dell'incenso in stile masala, con polveri miscelate e arrotolate attorno a un'anima di bambù, anziché il carattere più leggero ed effimero dei bastoncini d'incenso giapponesi.
Arrotolato a mano in India
L'incenso Satya è prodotto a Bangalore con il tradizionale metodo masala: resine, legni e fragranze in polvere vengono miscelati con un legante, poi arrotolati a mano attorno a sottili bastoncini di bambù e lasciati essiccare. Il risultato è un bastoncino più spesso, dalla combustione più lenta e dalla fragranza più intensa rispetto agli incensi immersi in oli profumati o con anima di carbone. Ogni bastoncino è arrotolato a mano, quindi lo spessore e la combustione possono variare leggermente.
Come bruciarlo
Accendi la punta rivestita, lascia che la fiamma attecchisca per qualche secondo, poi spegnila soffiando, in modo che l'estremità resti incandescente. Inserisci l'estremità liscia in un porta-incenso o appoggiala in un raccoglicenere e lascia una finestra socchiusa: l'incenso masala produce più fumo dei bastoncini giapponesi più essenziali. In genere bruciano per trenta-quarantacinque minuti, ma la durata varia in base allo spessore di ciascun bastoncino. Non lasciarlo mai incustodito.
Il motivo dell'albero della vita
L'albero della vita compare in molte culture, dall'Yggdrasil norreno all'Etz Chaim cabalistico, come simbolo di crescita, connessione e cicli di rinnovamento. Satya usa questo nome per evocare il radicamento e l'idea di ritrovare uno stato centrato e saldo, anche se la fragranza è una miscela masala moderna, non una ricetta storica.
