La fragranza

Realizzati secondo la tradizione indiana masala
Sono bastoncini d’incenso in stile masala: la fragranza deriva da resine macinate, polveri di legno e oli naturali avvolti attorno a un’anima di bambù, anziché da un rivestimento profumato applicato per immersione. Il processo è più lento e, mentre brucia, il profumo tende a risultare più rotondo e complesso. Aromatika è un produttore indiano noto per questa tradizionale tecnica di arrotolamento a mano, che prevede di creare ogni bastoncino a strati anziché ricoprirlo per immersione.
Come accenderli
Accendi l’estremità non rivestita, lascia che la fiamma bruci per qualche secondo, poi spegnila soffiando piano, finché la punta non resta incandescente. Metti il bastoncino in verticale in un portaincenso resistente al calore o in un raccoglicenere e lascialo bruciare in una stanza con un po’ di ricambio d’aria: una finestra aperta o una porta socchiusa evitano che il profumo diventi troppo intenso. Ogni bastoncino brucia in genere per circa quarantacinque minuti, anche se la durata varia in base alle correnti d’aria. Non lasciarlo mai incustodito e tienilo lontano da tutto ciò che potrebbe prendere fuoco.
L’Albero della Vita come simbolo
L’Albero della Vita compare in molte culture: nei nodi celtici, nella tradizione cabalistica e nelle immagini induiste e buddhiste, come simbolo di interconnessione, crescita e natura ciclica del rinnovamento.
