Sacral Chakra
“I feel”
Svadhisthana is usually translated as 'one's own dwelling place'. In the yogic map it rests in the lower abdomen, a few fingers below the navel, and its element is water.
Where the root is about standing firm, the sacral is about moving — the tradition associates it with pleasure, appetite, creativity, and the ability to let things flow rather than grip them. Its colour is the orange of late sunsets.
The classic signs of a neglected sacral, as the tradition tells it, are dry ones: work without play, routine without appetite, a diary with no white space. The suggested remedies are correspondingly simple — water, movement, music, making something with your hands without needing it to be good.
Carnelian is the stone most often paired with Svadhisthana — warm, orange, quietly energising. Moonstone belongs here too, with its long association with tides and cycles, as do sunstone and orange calcite.
In scent, the sacral leans sweet and warm: ylang ylang, vanilla, jasmine — the perfumes of evenings rather than mornings.
This page gathers what we stock in Svadhisthana's register: stones, scents, and objects that make room for a little more play.
