Vishuddha means 'especially pure'. In the yogic map it sits at the throat and presides over the voice — not volume, but accuracy: saying what is actually meant, at the moment it needs saying, with no more force than required.
Its colour is sky blue. Its element is ether — space itself, the medium sound travels through.
The tradition's portrait of a constricted throat chakra is familiar to anyone who has rehearsed a sentence for days and never said it. Its portrait of an overactive one is equally familiar. The practices sit in between: singing where nobody listens, writing before speaking, the pause before a reply.
Blue stones keep the throat company. Sodalite — deep blue, veined with white — is the writer's classic. Turquoise carries centuries of association with truthful speech; blue lace agate softens it; lapis lazuli gives it depth.
Clean, clear scents suit Vishuddha: eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree.
This page collects the throat chakra's register from our shelves — blue stones, clear scents, and small props for braver, kinder sentences.
