Ajna means 'command' — though the tradition intends it inwardly: the point between the eyebrows from which a person sees their own life clearly, before opinion and habit blur the view.

This is the chakra of intuition, pattern, and the quiet kind of knowing that arrives uninvited. Its colour is indigo — the sky twenty minutes after sunset.

The yogic literature treats Ajna with restraint: its gift is attention, practised daily. The recommended practices are the unglamorous ones — sitting still, watching the breath, keeping a dream journal that's mostly nonsense and occasionally isn't.

Amethyst is the third eye's best-known stone: violet, calming, found on more bedside tables than any other crystal in our catalogue. Labradorite, with its hidden flash of colour, is the other classic; sodalite and fluorite sharpen the shelf.

Scents here are resinous and old: frankincense, sandalwood — the smells of rooms where people have sat quietly for a long time.

Below: the catalogue's Ajna gathering — stones for stillness, incense for thinking, and objects that reward a second look.
