Um pau de incenso é uma fina vareta de bambu coberta com uma pasta de madeiras, resinas e aroma. Acenda a ponta, deixe a chama apagar-se e arderá devagar durante meia hora ou mais, perfumando a divisão.

Paus de incenso como estes costumam arder durante cerca de trinta a sessenta minutos, embora o tempo exacto varie de mistura para mistura. Queime-os numa divisão ventilada e nunca deixe um pau aceso sem vigilância.
