Η νότα ευκαλύπτου είναι δροσερή και πράσινη—δροσερή σαν σκιασμένα φύλλα μετά τη βροχή. Μόλις ανάψει, το κάρβουνο λάμπει και το άρωμα ανεβαίνει καθαρό και αέρινο, ενώ ο καπνός κατεβαίνει σε μεταξένια ρεύματα, ακολουθώντας τις καμπύλες του καυστήρα με αντίστροφη ροή και καταλήγοντας στην ηρεμία. Τοποθέτησε το καυστήρα με αντίστροφη ροή σε μια επιφάνεια ανθεκτική στη θερμότητα και χωρίς ρεύματα αέρα και ευθυγράμμισε τον κώνο πάνω από την οπή εισόδου του καυστήρα.
Άναψε την άκρη· άφησέ την να πιάσει για λίγα δευτερόλεπτα, μετά φύσηξε απαλά τη φλόγα για να συνεχίσει να λάμπει.
Περίμενε λίγο να εμφανιστεί ο καταρράκτης. Κάθισε κοντά, αναπνέεις φυσικά και άφησε το δωμάτιο να ησυχάσει.
