Jokainen kartio on yksinkertainen, kiinteä kartionmuotoinen – noin 25 mm korkea – ja siinä on tasainen pohja. Pinta on mattapintainen ja pehmeästi rakeinen, tasaisen terrakotan sävyinen, jossa on satunnaisesti pieniä kuoppia. Ne ovat yksinkertaisia ja painamattomia, ja tuntuvat kosketuksessa maanläheisiltä ja luonnollisilta. Tuoksu on klassinen intialainen vetiveri (khus): viileä maa ja auringon kuivattama ruoho, ripaus kosteaa maata ja pehmeä, savun lämmin sävy.
