Ovo je prirodni ametist (kvarc) iz Kine, oblikovan kao kompaktni grozd šiljastih, fasetiranih vrhova s glatkim, staklastim sjajem. Kristali variraju od tamnoljubičaste do srednje ljubičaste boje i poluprozirni su do prozirni. Ispod se nalazi gruba slojevita matrica s horizontalnim slojevima u nijansama bijele, svijetlo bež i smeđe, s mat, zemljanom teksturom. Profil je nepravilnog i blago zakrivljenog oblika, s nazubljenom kristalnom površinom i čvrstom, nepoliranom bazom. Svaki komad mjeri otprilike 3–8 cm, s izraženim slojevitim uzorkom koji prelazi u ljubičasti kristalni sloj iznad.

Ametist je cijenjen u mnogim kulturama — ime potječe od grčke riječi „amethystos“ i dugo se koristi u nakitu i ritualnim predmetima. U mnogim suvremenim tradicijama povezuje se s krunskom i trećim okom čakrama, poznat je kao rođendanski kamen veljače i u zodijačkoj tradiciji povezan je s Vodenjakom i Ribama.
