Coloque a extremidade simples do pau de incenso num suporte resistente ao calor ou num apanhador de cinzas. Acenda a ponta revestida, deixe queime brevemente e depois sopre para apagar a chama, de modo a que a extremidade fique incandescente e liberte um fio constante de fumo.
Queime num espaço ventilado, longe de cortinas, animais de estimação e crianças. Nunca deixe o incenso aceso sem vigilância e deixe as cinzas arrefecerem completamente antes de as limpar.
