Ateie fogo à ponta revestida, deixe-a arder durante alguns segundos e depois apague a chama, para que fique incandescente e comece a fumegar. Coloque a ponta sem revestimento num suporte resistente ao calor ou num apanha-cinzas. Queime numa divisão ventilada e nunca o deixe sem vigilância. O aroma permanece suavemente nos tecidos e na madeira muito depois de o fumo desaparecer.
