Detta är naturlig ametist (kvarts) från Kina, formad som en kompakt klunga av spetsiga, fasetterade avslut med en blank, glasartad lyster. Kristallerna varierar från djup till medel-lila och är halvgenomskinliga till genomskinliga. Under finns en rå, bandad matris med horisontella lager i nyanser av vitt, ljusbrunt och brunt, med en matt, jordig textur. Profilen är oregelbunden och lätt bågad, med en taggig kristallyta och en robust, opolerad bas. Varje bit mäter cirka 3–8 cm, med tydlig bandning som övergår i det lila kristallagret ovanför.

Ametist har uppskattats i många kulturer — namnet kommer från grekiskan ”amethystos” och den har länge använts i smycken och rituella föremål. I många samtida traditioner kopplas den till kron- och tredje öga-chakran, är känd som födelsesten för februari och förknippas i zodiakens lore med Vattumannen och Fiskarna.
