Изработен от естествен калцит в Китай, всяко парче е с височина приблизително 9–11 см на плоска основа с един фасетиран връх. Множество странични фасети създават силует, наподобяващ обелиск. Оцветяването варира от тъмносиво до почти черно с по-светли сиви петна и понякога слабо изразени ивици. Непрозрачен с полуматов завършек, повърхностите показват заоблени ями и кухини, оставени естествено неравни, подчертаващи органичния характер на камъка.
