Plaats het onbedekte uiteinde in een hittebestendige wierookhouder of asopvangbakje. Steek het gecoate uiteinde aan, laat het kort vlammen en blaas het dan uit zodat het uiteinde gloeid en een constante rookdraad afgeeft.
Brand in een geventileerde ruimte, uit de buurt van gordijnen, huisdieren en tocht. Laat wierook nooit onbeheerd achter en laat de as op een hittebestendig oppervlak vallen.
