- De geur begint zachtzoet. Vanille en coumarine geven hem een warme, balsemachtige kwaliteit zonder dat hij mierzoet wordt.
- Terwijl het stokje brandt, voegt het Yara Yara-poeder, een Zuid-Amerikaanse boomhars, een subtiele houtachtige, harsachtige toon toe die de zoetheid aardt.
- De rook is zacht en vol, niet scherp of groen, en vult een kleine kamer zonder overheersend te zijn.
- Geschikt voor gebed, meditatie of gewoon om de overgang van dag naar avond te markeren; een geur die uitnodigt om het rustiger aan te doen.
Indiase masala-wierook
Deze volgen de traditionele masalamethode: poedervormige harsen, kruiden en geurstoffen worden gemengd met een natuurlijk bindmiddel en vervolgens op bamboestokjes gerold. Het resultaat is een dicht stokje dat langzaam brandt en een geur verspreidt die nog lang in de lucht blijft hangen nadat het gloeiende punt is gedoofd. De mengsels combineren natuurlijke materialen, vanilline, coumarine en boomharsen met synthetische geurstoffen voor een consistent, langdurig aroma.
Zo brand je de wierook
Steek het gecoate uiteinde aan, laat het enkele seconden vlam vatten en blaas de vlam vervolgens uit, zodat het uiteinde blijft gloeien. Plaats het onbewerkte uiteinde in een hittebestendige houder of asvanger en laat de wierook langzaam opbranden. Brand de wierook altijd in een goed geventileerde ruimte en laat hem nooit onbeheerd achter.
De traditie van de 7 aartsengelen
De naam verwijst naar de christelijke mystiek, waarin de zeven aartsengelen Michaël, Gabriël, Rafaël, Uriël, Chamuel, Jofiël en Zadkiël worden aangeroepen als beschermers en voorsprekers in gebed. Deze melange wordt vaak gebrand tijdens devotionele rituelen, novenen of stille bezinning. De geur dient als aandachtspunt om de geest tot rust te brengen en heilige tijd te markeren.
