Vetiver: een aardse, rokerige geur met zoete grasachtige tonen, uit de wortels van het khusgras. Met de hand gerold in India: een gecoate masala op een bamboestokje.

De geur
- De geur opent houtachtig en aards, zoals een handvol droge wortels ruikt voordat het gaat regenen, en verdiept zich daarna tot iets rustigers en licht zoets.
- De rokerige toon loopt als een rode draad door de hele geurontwikkeling: aardend, niet bijtend, meer als door de zon gedroogde bast dan als verkoold hout.
- Geen scherpe bloemige toets, geen frisse citrusnoot: dit is een ingetogen, gelijkmatige geur die dicht bij de grond blijft.
- Past bij het einde van de dag, het uur voor het slapengaan of elk moment waarop je de ruimte rustig en warm wilt laten aanvoelen.
Geurcompositie, met de hand gerold in India
Dit is masala-wierook, gemaakt door geurstoffen, vanilline, coumarine- en yara-yarapoeiers te mengen met een parfumakkoord dat het aardse karakter van vetiver vastlegt. De wierook bestaat niet uitsluitend uit botanische vetiverwortel, maar de geurcompositie is samengesteld om die diepe, harsachtige warmte op te roepen.
Brandinstructies
Steek het gecoate uiteinde aan, laat het enkele seconden vlammen en blaas het dan uit, zodat het roodgloeiend is en begint te roken. Plaats het ongecoate uiteinde in een hittebestendige houder of op een asvanger. Brand de wierook in een goed geventileerde ruimte en laat hem nooit onbeheerd achter. De geur blijft nog lang nadat de rook is opgetrokken zachtjes hangen in textiel en hout.
Uit India
Deze masalastokjes worden gemaakt in India, waar de traditie van wierook maken al tientallen jaren wordt doorgegeven. Vetiver is een ingetogen geur in het masala-assortiment, minder bekend dan Nag Champa of patchouli, maar met dezelfde zorgvuldige geurcompositie en gelijkmatige, langzame verbranding.
