La albasia es una madera ligera y de crecimiento rápido, notablemente más liviana en la mano que el roble o la teca, con una veta fina y uniforme que admite bien la pintura.
Cómo funciona en una estancia
- Como superficie de noche: lo bastante bajo para alcanzarlo desde el suelo y lo bastante estable para un vaso de agua y una lámpara.
- Como pedestal para plantas: el color combina bien con plantas colgantes y la parte superior plana se adapta a una maceta mediana sin tambalearse.
- Como pieza para el recibidor: un solo taburete en una esquina ofrece a una entrada estrecha un lugar donde dejar las llaves o una bandeja pequeña.
- El turquesa se sostiene por sí solo como toque de color; no hace falta ocultarlo ni decorar a su alrededor.
La madera y el acabado
La albasia (también conocida como falcata o Paraserianthes falcataria) se cultiva ampliamente en Indonesia y en todo el archipiélago del Sudeste Asiático. El acabado pintado sella la superficie y le aporta un color uniforme, aunque la veta subyacente sigue siendo ligeramente visible al observarla de cerca.
Artesanía y origen
El taburete procede de Indonesia, un país con una larga tradición en la fabricación de muebles de madera a pequeña escala, especialmente en Java y Bali. Los taburetes bajos y las mesas auxiliares de este tipo son formas habituales en los hogares del Sudeste Asiático, donde se utilizan tanto para exhibir objetos y almacenarlos como para sentarse. La forma es sencilla y geométrica: cuatro patas y una parte superior plana, sin tallas ni detalles decorativos, lo que le aporta una versatilidad de la que carecen las piezas más ornamentadas.
Cómo cuidar la madera pintada
Límpialo con un paño seco o apenas humedecido. Evita dejar vasos mojados directamente sobre la superficie durante mucho tiempo, ya que la madera pintada puede quedar marcada por la humedad prolongada. Mantenlo alejado de fuentes de calor directo, que con el tiempo pueden resecar la madera y hacer que la pintura se levante en los bordes. La pieza llega lista para usar, sin necesidad de montaje.
