What it is

An incense cone is incense pressed into a small cone. Light the tip, blow out the flame and it smoulders from the top down, scenting the room for about twenty minutes. A backflow cone has a hole in its base, so the smoke falls instead of rising.

Why people choose it

  • A scent in twenty minutes One cone scents a room quickly, then it is done.
  • Smoke that falls On a backflow burner the smoke runs down like water, slow and quiet to watch.
  • Easy to keep a few Woods, resins, flowers and spices: a pack of each for different evenings.
  • Small and tidy The ash stays in the holder as a small grey cone.

How to use it

  1. 1

Stand the cone on a heat-safe holder

  2. 2

Light the tip, let it catch, then blow out the flame

  3. 3

Let it smoulder down; a backflow cone goes on a backflow burner

Care: Use a heat-safe holder. Never leave a lit cone unattended. Ventilate the room.

Warm, calming scent that isn't too overpowering

I've tried many incense cones over the years and these Palo Santo dhoop cones have a really comforting scent. The smell feels warm, woody and slightly sweet without being too heavy or smoky. It creates a relaxed atmosphere quite quickly, especially in smaller rooms. I liked using them during quiet…

    Fabulous smell

I bought these along with another scent to use on a backflow incense burner. The cones that came with that ended up leaving a smell like old cigarettes. And they didn't last very long. Picking up these Stamford ones after reading some reviews lived up to my expectations. The smell is wonderful and…

    Long lasting

I only got these yesterday and lit one right away and I'm really impressed. I've bought several different brands but these are by far the best ever. They are bigger so last longer, about 30 minutes, the scent is quite strong so I found leaving doors open helped get the scent around. I got up this…

    My Favourite Incense

I've used lots of Stamford incenses before, with Dragon's Blood being my top pick, and they've always been dependable. This is the first time I've tried these Dragon's Blood cones by Stamford, as I normally use the Dragon's Blood sticks, also by Stamford. These cones burn great, and have a really…

Medium strength, easy to use cones.

I use these when I've cooked strong-smelling food like fish or curries. They help eliminate the smell really easily. For strength I'd give them a 7 out of 10, which is just right for my needs. It's as strong as some I've bought from Indian shops, which is fine as I didn't want it that strong. The…

    Very smoky - as intended!

These are great but better for burning outside IMO which is what i will use them for now. They burn for about 20 minutes and produce lots and lots of aromatic smoke. My only thought after buying, is that I should have got the sticks as i previously had. Having done some research after purchasing…

    Recommended!

We were using this manufacturer's cinnamon incense cones through the first part of the year and were very pleased with them but wanted a change of scent with the warmer weather. Lavender has proven an excellent choice. The cones are easy to use and are very good value if you buy a box of twelve…

Great smell. Favourite of the range

my absolute favourite smell from the stanford range. i buy the sticks regularly from shops and markets but only see the cones online. i recommend using an incense holder instead of the metal plate provided as it looks as though it will be very hot to the touch after use

Wonderful scent and so easy to use.

As with the sticks, this is a wonderful scent. Just light the top of the cone and place it onto the small silver tray provided. Quite a bit of smoke given off along with its wonderful strong scent. Would not hesitate to buy these again as they are a really good idea.

    Truly lovely

This is some of the best incense I've ever burned, and I burn a lot. Thr fragrance fills the house without being overbearing. It burns great so you don't get overwhelmed at the base and it lasts gor ages. I find it's really soothing and helps me relax and meditate.

    Beware, highly addictive 😀

Lovely scent that lingers. Living in a studio flat, I burn these in all rooms and they really he!p with lingering cooking smells too. Much nicer than modern "air fresheners" and my apartment smells gorgeous. Now I just need a support group for my addiction!!

About this product

Jasmine tea in the room
  • The scent has a gentle floral character, softened by the familiar calm of tea.
  • Its cone shape gives a focused burn, with no wooden stick left behind.
  • The smoke is part of the ritual: a small visible pause before the fragrance settles.
  • It suits a living room, hallway or quiet corner where atmosphere matters.
  • Use it before guests arrive, after tidying, or as a simple evening threshold.
Plant-based cones, hand rolled in India

These incense cones are made from plant material and resins, then hand rolled in India. The format is simple and traditional: a compact cone that stands on its flat base and releases scent as the glowing tip moves downward.

Lighting and daily ritual

Place a cone on a heat-resistant incense holder or suitable dish. Light the tip, let it catch, then blow out the flame so the tip glows and smoulders.

Each cone has an approximate burn time of 30 minutes. Keep it away from draughts, fabrics and unattended spaces, and allow the ash to cool fully before clearing it away.

Jasmine, tea and incense culture

Jasmine has long been valued in fragrance for its soft, floral presence, while tea brings a quieter association with pause and hospitality. In incense, that pairing feels domestic and graceful rather than heavy. India has deep incense-making traditions, from temple use to everyday home fragrance, and cone incense offers a compact way to bring scent into a room without a stick core or holder full of bamboo ends.

Common questions

Is an incense holder included?
Use the cones with a heat-resistant incense holder or a suitable fire-safe dish.
How are incense cones different from sticks?
Cones burn from the tip down and leave a small cone of ash. They do not have a bamboo stick core, so there is no wooden stem to dispose of afterwards.
