Singing bowls have been at the heart of contemplative practice for centuries, their resonant tones earned by a single stroke or the steady orbit of a mallet around the rim. In our collection you'll find a range of handcrafted bowls for meditation in various sizes, finishes and tones — each ready to become part of your daily ritual.
What's in the collection
The range centres on Tibetan singing bowls in a choice of sizes from 15 centimetres to 27 centimetres, crafted in aluminium, earth powder and other materials. Sizes are listed by diameter, so you can choose a bowl that sits comfortably in your hands or one that fills a room with sound. Colours and designs vary — from the classic Tree of Life motif to Magic Mushroom and Double Dorjy patterns — and finishes range from deep moss greens and blues to warm copper tones. Alongside the bowls, you'll find Tibetan Bells & Tingshas and a curated selection of singing bowl accessories: velvet-wrapped mallets, gong strikers, and a dedicated singing bowl cushion sized for bowls of 12–14 centimetres.
Choosing your bowl
When selecting a meditation bowl, size is the first practical consideration. Smaller bowls of 15–20 centimetres are well suited to personal practice, cupped in the hands and played close to the body. Larger bowls from 23 centimetres upwards produce a deeper, more room-filling resonance — ideal if you plan to play in shared spaces or use the bowl as a centrepiece in a meditation room. Do check the size of your intended cushion before purchasing: our singing bowl cushion is designed for bowls of 12–14 centimetres, so a larger bowl may need an alternative base. If you're drawn to a particularly loud response, look for bowls marked extra loud — they respond with strong, sustained vibration even with a light stroke.
Playing and using your bowl
Hold the singing bowl mallet loosely and strike the bowl firmly to begin, then trace it steadily around the outer rim in a clockwise direction to build and sustain the tone. The technique takes a little practice, but the sound unfolds naturally with patience. Bowls work beautifully in seated meditation, during yoga nidra, or simply as a way to mark a moment of transition in the day. They also pair naturally with other Sound Healing Instruments — a Handpan or Tongue Drum can create layered harmonic textures alongside a singing bowl, while a gong adds a deeper bass register beneath the bowl's singing tone.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need any accessories to play a singing bowl?
Most bowls are struck with a mallet, and all our bowls come with one included. A singing bowl cushion raises the bowl to a comfortable height for playing and protects the base from marks. If you plan to play for extended periods, a dedicated cushion is a worthwhile addition.
How do I choose the right size bowl?
Smaller bowls (15–20 cm) suit personal, seated practice and are easier to hold. Larger bowls (23–27 cm) produce a richer, more resonant tone that carries further — a good choice for rooms or shared sessions. Consider where you'll play and how much space you have before deciding.
Are these bowls handcrafted?
Yes — our range includes handcrafted bowls for meditation in a variety of traditional and contemporary designs. Each is made by hand, which means exact tones, weights and finishes can vary slightly between pieces.
What is the difference between aluminium and earth powder bowls?
Aluminium bowls tend to be lighter in weight and produce a clear, accessible tone suitable for everyday practice. Earth powder bowls are typically denser and offer a deeper, more complex resonance. Both are valid choices — it comes down to personal preference and the sound you're drawn to.
Can I use a singing bowl mallet on other instruments?
Some of our mallets are versatile enough to work on gongs and other percussive instruments. The gong mallet and velvet-wrapped striker are practical choices if you collect across the sound healing range. Do check the product description for compatibility, as head size and weight vary.
