A small ritual
- On the evening of 5 December, stand the little house on its felt star in the hall, fill the dish with water and add a few drops of the cinnamon and orange oil.
- Light a tealight in the base and watch the windows come on. Then fill a clean boot for someone with the soap hearts, the tea and a mandarin, and leave it by their door.
- Keep water in the dish and the house clear of coats and curtains, and put the flame out when you leave the hall.
What's inside
- A grey ceramic oil burner shaped as a townhouse, 10 × 7 cm, whose windows glow when the tealight is lit.
- A six-pointed star of grey, charcoal and cream wool felt balls, 27 cm across, for the burner to stand on.
- Six cinnamon-scented tealights, each burning up to four hours, made in Poland.
- Cinnamon and orange fragrance oil, 10 ml, made in the UK.
- 10 heart-shaped guest soaps in orange and warm ginger, about 20 g each, made in the UK.
- A 50 g tin of loose black tea with orange peel, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, cardamom and black pepper; the tin names the blend 'Black Magic'.
The pieces arrive together in one parcel. They are not gift-wrapped. Let the burner cool before you move it or empty the dish.
