Oranges and Cloves: St Nicholas Gift Set

1. On the evening of 5 December, stand the little house on its felt star in the hall, fill the dish with water and add a few drops of the cinnamon and orange oil.
2. Light a tealight in the base and watch the windows come on. Then fill a clean boot for someone with the soap hearts, the tea and a mandarin, and leave it by their door.
3. Keep water in the dish and the house clear of coats and curtains, and put the flame out when you leave the hall.

• A grey ceramic oil burner shaped as a townhouse, 10 × 7 cm, whose windows glow when the tealight is lit.
