This is loose incense resin, not a self-lighting stick or cone. The granules are placed onto a lit charcoal disc in a heat-proof censer, usually over sand or ash to help absorb heat. An electric incense heater can also be used for this style of incense.

Use a heat-proof incense holder on a stable surface. Hold the charcoal disc with tongs, light it, and wait until it begins to grey at the edges. Add a small pinch of resin on top, then let the smoke rise at its own pace.

Keep the burner away from fabrics, draughts and anything flammable. Never leave burning charcoal unattended, and allow everything to cool fully before clearing away the ash.

The name Three Kings points towards the Christian story of the Magi, where precious aromatic gifts are brought to the infant Jesus.
