Made in Indonesia Ships from the UK

A carved wooden angel with hands pressed in quiet greeting, 25 cm tall and made from suar wood in Indonesia. About this product

What you'll notice
  • The wood grain shows through the figure, each piece different in pattern and tone, running from pale gold to deeper caramel brown.
  • The hands meet at the chest in a gesture that reads as both reverence and welcome, picked out in soft gold paint that catches the light.
  • The wings sweep back in smooth, simplified curves rather than detailed feathers, keeping the form clean and uncluttered.
  • It stands freely without a base, balanced on a narrow foot, and feels substantial enough to stay put on a shelf.
Carved from suar wood in Indonesia

Suar is a fast-growing tropical hardwood used widely in Balinese woodcarving for its workability and distinctive grain. Each piece carries its own pattern of darker and lighter streaks, a natural variation that means no two figures look identical. The surface is smooth and slightly matt, left close to its natural state with just the hands highlighted in gold.

A gift given with intention

Angels have long served as tokens of affection and care, given to mark milestones, offer comfort, or simply say "I was thinking of you". This one is named for friendship, the gesture of the hands and the warmth of the wood lending themselves to that quiet message. It suits a birthday, a thank-you, or a moment when you want to send something more considered than a card.

Where it sits

It works on a bookshelf, a windowsill, a bedside table, or grouped with other small carvings on a mantelpiece. The natural wood tone settles into most interiors without demanding attention, and the figure's narrow profile means it fits into tighter spaces. Keep it out of prolonged damp and direct sun, as untreated wood can fade or warp over time. An occasional wipe with a dry cloth is all it needs.

Size and finish

The figure stands 25 cm tall, roughly the height of a wine bottle, carved from a single piece of suar wood with gold-painted hands. The wood's natural grain and colour vary from piece to piece.

A thoughtful token

It makes a meaningful gift for a close friend, especially someone who values handmade objects with a personal touch. The carved form and the quiet symbolism tend to make it a keepsake rather than a passing decoration.

Common questions

Will the gold wear off the hands?
The paint is applied to the surface, so it may soften with frequent handling. It is best treated as a display piece rather than something regularly picked up.
Can it stand on its own?
Yes, it is designed to stand freely on a flat surface without a separate base. The narrow foot keeps it stable on a level shelf or table.
