What it is

An incense stick is a fine bamboo stick coated in a paste of woods, resins and scent. Light the tip, let the flame go out, and it glows slowly for half an hour or more, scenting the room.

Why people choose it

  • A scent that stays Each stick glows for half an hour or more and leaves the room scented after it has gone out.
  • Many scents to keep Woods, resins, flowers and spices: easy to keep a few for different moods and seasons.
  • Many evenings in a pack One stick an evening, and a pack lasts for weeks.
  • Gentle smoke Lit in an airy room, the scent stays and the smoke clears.

How to use it

  1. 1

Light the tip, let it catch for a few seconds

  2. 2

Blow the flame out. It should glow, not burn

  3. 3

Stand it in a holder on a heat-safe surface; let it burn down or press the tip into sand to stop it

Care: Ventilate the room. Never leave it burning unattended. Ash on a heat-safe holder.

About this product

The myrrh scent in the room
  • Myrrh has a deep resin character, earthy, balsamic and slightly bitter at the edges.
  • The fragrance feels suited to evening rituals, quiet reading, journalling or a pause between work and rest.
  • Its warmth sits well in a calm corner, especially where you want scent without sweetness.
  • The charcoal-toned packaging and pale peach label give it a simple, modern ritual feel.
  • The box is marked as part of Ishom’s Smudge Incense range, with myrrh clearly named on the front.
Hand-rolled on bamboo

This is hand-rolled coated incense on a bamboo stick, made in India. The format keeps the focus on myrrh’s resinous fragrance.

How to burn it

Loose, powder and resin incense and simmering granules do not self-light. They require a lit charcoal disc in a heat-proof censer over sand or ash, or an electric incense heater. Ignite the charcoal until glowing, let it ash over, then sprinkle a pinch on top.

Burn in a ventilated space, away from fabrics and draughts. Never leave burning incense unattended, and allow the ash to cool before clearing it away.

Myrrh in incense tradition

Myrrh is one of the classic resin scents of incense culture, long used in ceremonial, devotional and contemplative settings across parts of the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and India. Its character is less floral than many incense fragrances, with a darker, drier warmth that feels grounded and solemn. In modern home ritual, people often choose myrrh for moments that need a clear beginning or ending: lighting incense before meditation, settling into an evening routine, or marking a quiet threshold in the day.

Weight and details

Contains 28 g of Ishom myrrh incense. Made in India from hand-rolled coated incense on bamboo sticks.

A thoughtful ritual gift

A good choice for someone who enjoys resinous incense, simple home rituals or a more contemplative scent profile. It suits a meditation corner, reading space or small altar without feeling ornate.

They do burn for 30 odd minutes as described. I've bought some that burn down within minutes of lighting, so these are excellent. I would
