About this product

What gives it presence
  • The whitewashed surface lets the warm grain show through, so the piece feels rustic rather than polished flat.
  • Feathered wings add soft texture, catching light across the raised carved details.
  • The black holly design sits inside the skirt like a small festive silhouette.
  • Its upright form brings a calm focal point to a console table, windowsill or quiet seasonal display.
  • The mix of pale wood and dark iron detail makes it easy to place with natural greenery, candles or simple winter décor.
Mango wood with dark holly detail

Hand-carved from mango wood in India, the figure is finished with a soft whitewash that leaves the natural grain visible. The skirt features an iron holly cut-out, giving contrast to the pale carved body and adding a crisp botanical pattern.

How to place and care for it

Set it on a dry, level surface where the carved wings and cut-out centre can be seen clearly. Dust gently with a soft cloth, and keep it away from prolonged damp so the wood and finish stay in good condition.

The meaning behind the form

Angels have appeared in European devotional art for centuries, from church mosaics and carved altarpieces to small keepsakes for the home. In modern gifting, they are often given less as a formal religious object and more as a symbol of care, remembrance, gratitude or quiet companionship. The holly motif adds a seasonal note: in winter decoration, holly is traditionally associated with resilience and continuity, its evergreen leaves holding colour when the garden is bare.

Common questions

Is this mainly a Christmas decoration?
The holly detail gives it a festive feel, but the simple angel form also works as a year-round keepsake.
Will each one look exactly the same?
No. Because it is hand-carved from mango wood, small differences in grain, tone and carved detail are part of its character.
