Small Enamelled Box - Aries

• The lid is the star: midnight blue, flecked with gold dots around the edge of the roundel, like a small patch of night sky.
• The ram's head sits at the centre of the wheel, with twelve segments around it, each holding its own constellation line.
• The wooden body is a warm, mid-brown with visible grain, a gentle contrast to the dark lid.
• A black metal hasp-style clasp sits at the front, closing the box with a small, satisfying catch.
• The lid rises into a shallow ridge, giving the box a softly pitched, house-like profile.

The box is made in India, with an enamelled decoration set onto the wooden lid. The wooden sides are left in their natural tone, so the grain shows through and no two boxes look exactly alike. Small variations in the painted finish and the wood are part of what makes a decorated piece like this feel handled rather than uniform.

It is the right size for the small things you like to keep close: a ring or two, a pair of earrings, a pendant, a folded note, a stone you carry. Keep it on a bedside table as a place to set things down at night, or on a desk as somewhere for the small objects that otherwise drift. To care for it, wipe the lid gently with a dry or barely damp cloth and keep it away from standing water.

In Western astrology, Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, symbolised by the ram and traditionally associated with beginnings, courage and a direct, energetic spirit. The design nods to that tradition with the ram at the heart of the wheel, and many people enjoy keeping their own sign on something they use every day. It is a decorative nod to a long-loved tradition, not a promise of any outcome.

It suits a birthday for an Aries, or a thoughtful present for a friend who loves astrology and keeping small treasures in one place. Because the design is personal to the sign, it tends to feel chosen rather than generic.
