What candle sand is
Candle sand is granulated wax, tiny grains that pour and settle like fine sugar. You use it by filling a shallow dish or bowl (ceramic, glass, metal, anything that won't scorch) to a depth of about two to three centimetres, standing a wick upright in the centre, and lighting it as you would any candle. The wax melts only in a small circle around the flame; the rest of the sand stays granular and reusable. When the wick burns down, let it cool, pour the sand back into the pouch, and start again with a fresh wick.
How to use it
Pour the sand into a clean, heat-resistant dish with a flat base and low sides, a shallow ceramic bowl, a saucer, a small metal tray. Press a cotton wick (not included) into the centre so it stands upright, leaving about a centimetre showing above the surface. Light the wick and let it burn as long as you like; the wax melts in a pool around the flame but the sand beyond stays cool. Trim the wick to about 5 mm before each use, keep the burning candle on a stable surface away from draughts and flammable objects, and never leave it unattended. When you're done, let the sand cool completely, pour it back into the pouch, and save it for next time.
