Stand each candle upright in a stable, heat-proof holder before lighting. Trim the wick to about 5 mm, keep it away from draughts and anything flammable, and never leave a burning candle unattended.

Let the wax cool fully before moving the holder. If you are styling several tapers together, leave enough space between flames so the heat stays gentle and even.
