Wooden Puzzle Box, Seahorse

• The seahorse form gives it an easy coastal character, gentle enough for a bedside table, shelf, or dressing space.
• Dark carved lines bring out the eye, fins and curled tail, adding depth against the polished brown wood.
• The ridged body invites touch, with shallow grooves that make the piece feel more sculptural than flat.
• It works as both a decorative wooden box and a small puzzle, something to handle, solve and return to.
• The central compartment is suited to a tiny gift, a ring, a charm, or another small personal treasure.

Made from Saman wood in Indonesia, this box belongs to the Bali Magic Boxes range. It follows the familiar idea of a wooden puzzle box: the pieces need to be moved in the right order before the hidden centre can be reached.

Take your time with the mechanism rather than forcing it. Work gently around the pieces, noticing which part wants to move first, then continue in sequence until the compartment opens.

Keep it dry and wipe with a soft cloth. As with most wooden pieces, avoid prolonged damp or harsh cleaning products, which can dull the finish.

Puzzle boxes have long appealed because they slow down an ordinary action. Instead of lifting a lid, you pause, test, remember and solve. This seahorse version brings that ritual into a light-hearted decorative object: part keepsake box, part desk puzzle, part small gift presentation. It is not a security box, but a charming way to make opening something feel considered.

Made from Saman wood and weighing approximately 350 g. The box has a small central compartment and a multi-piece puzzle opening.

A good choice for someone who enjoys coastal motifs, wooden puzzles, or beautifully shaped storage for small treasures. It also suits giving a tiny present inside, where the act of opening becomes part of the gift itself.
