First Frost: Winter Candle Gift Set

1. Put four or five drops of fir oil on a little water in the burner's dish and light a tealight beneath it.
2. Set a second tealight in the selenite snowball, stand the selenite point beside it in the low sun, and leave the curtains open while the frost lasts.
3. Keep both selenite pieces dry and away from the burner's water. Top the water up before it runs dry, and put both flames out when you leave the room.

• One selenite snowball tealight holder, about 8 x 9 cm, banded like packed snow.
• One white ceramic oil burner with tree cut-outs, 9 x 10.5 cm.
• One 10 ml bottle of Fir Tree fragrance oil: pine, a lift of citrus and a woody base.
• A set of six vanilla-scented tealights.
• One selenite pencil point, about 20 cm tall, with fine vertical striations; no two are alike.

The pieces arrive together in one parcel. They are not gift-wrapped. Selenite is soft and dissolves in water: dust it with a dry cloth, never wash it.

Selenite takes its name from selene, the Greek word for the moon. It is a clear form of gypsum, the same mineral that is heated to make plaster of Paris, and it slowly dissolves in water, which is why it stays dry.
