About this product
A small ritual
- On 29 November, stand the four candles in the tree tray, tallest to smallest, and light the tallest for an hour or two at dusk.
- On each Sunday after, light one more, the next in height, so that on 20 December all four burn together.
- Stand the tray on a heatproof surface, keep greenery and paper away from the flames, and never leave the candles burning in an empty room.

- Four ivory pillar candles, 4.8 cm across and 7, 9, 11 and 13 cm tall, burning for about 11, 16, 22 and 33 hours; unscented, made in Poland.
- A mango-wood tray in the shape of a fir tree, with a green enamel centre, 25 × 19 cm, made in India.
- Three layered evergreens of mango wood and green enamel on one base, 20 × 23 cm, made in India.
The pieces arrive together in one parcel. They are not gift-wrapped. The tray is for dry use: wipe it with a dry cloth.
The Advent wreath began in Hamburg in 1839, when Johann Hinrich Wichern hung a cartwheel of candles from the ceiling of the prayer hall at the Rauhes Haus: a small red candle for each weekday of Advent and a large white one for each Sunday. The four white Sunday candles are the ones that stayed.
