About this product
Where the eye goes first
- The glass has a watery, slightly blue tint, with thick rounded edges that feel fluid rather than rigid.
- The wood brings contrast: dark ridges, raw grain, and warm brown tones that make the clear glass feel brighter.
- Its form is organic, so it sits more like a found object than a neat, symmetrical vase.
- Used with a candle, the bowl turns the light inward and lets the wood frame the glow.
- With stones, air plants or cut flowers, it becomes a small natural centrepiece rather than simple storage.
Hand-blown glass over Gamal root
The glass is hand-blown while hot, then rested over a piece of Gamal wood so it hardens to the shape of the root beneath it. That meeting point is the beauty of the piece: smooth glass held by rough timber, with the curve of one shaped by the other.
It is made in Indonesia using hand tools in the traditional Balinese way. Because the wood is natural and the glass follows its form, each piece has its own grain, balance and outline.
How to style it at home
Place it where the light can reach the glass: on a console, coffee table, bedside surface or calm corner of a room. It suits organic-modern interiors, coastal textures and spaces that feel better with one considered object rather than extra clutter.
Use it as a small vase, a candle holder, or a decorative bowl for stones and air plants. Keep the arrangement simple so the meeting of glass and wood stays visible.
Care for the glass and wood
Wipe the glass with a soft cloth and avoid soaking the wooden base. If using water for cut flowers, clear any spills from the wood promptly and let it dry naturally.
When using a candle, choose one that sits securely inside the glass bowl. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and let the glass cool before moving it.
Weight and details
Made from glass and Gamal wood, also known as Gliricidia sepium. The piece weighs 500 g and is made in Indonesia.
A gift with presence
A thoughtful choice for someone who likes natural materials, candlelit evenings, indoor plants or sculptural home pieces. It feels personal without needing to be overly decorative.
