Small Enamelled Box - Taurus

• The lid is a deep navy, so the cream wheel and the gold line-drawing of the bull stand out clearly against it.
• Around the bull, the twelve signs are marked in small constellation sketches, like a star chart drawn on the lid.
• The wooden body is a rich brown with visible grain, with some natural variation in tone from one box to the next.
• A dark metal latch at the front hooks shut and gives the box a slightly old-fashioned, trunk-like character.
• On a dresser, desk or shelf it reads as a quiet decorative piece first and a practical box second.

The body is wood, finished in a warm brown that lets the grain show. The lid carries a decorative enamelled design, and the contrast between the smooth painted top and the natural wood below is what gives the box its character. It is made in India. The front latch is dark metal and closes with a simple hook.

Small boxes tend to earn their place through habit. This one suits the things you reach for most: rings and earrings left on a bedside table, a few favourite stones, a spare key, folded notes, or the small objects that otherwise drift around a desk. Keep it somewhere you pass every day and it becomes a small ritual of putting things away.

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, traditionally symbolised by the bull and associated in astrological tradition with steadiness, patience and a love of comfort and beauty. The bull on the lid is drawn in a fine gold line with flowers around its head, a gentle nod to that earthy, sensual side of the sign. Astrology works here as symbol and storytelling, a way of making an object feel personal.

This is a small box, sized for little keepsakes rather than larger items. Because the wood is natural, expect slight differences in grain and colour between boxes. It is a decorative wooden piece, so keep it dry and wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid soaking or leaving it in damp conditions.

For a Taurus birthday (traditionally 20 April to 20 May), this is an easy way to give something personal without it being showy. It also suits someone who enjoys astrology, collects small keepsakes, or likes objects with a little symbolism. The sign on the lid makes it feel chosen rather than generic.
