About this product
Carved character for small treasures
- The pale wash softens the wood, giving the box a calm, time-worn look without feeling heavy.
- The carved design adds texture and shadow, so it feels decorative even when left closed.
- Its compact shape suits a bedside routine: rings off, earrings together, small pieces kept in one place.
- The light build makes it easy to move from dresser to shelf when you refresh a room.
- It opens and closes simply, made for everyday use rather than being kept only for display.
Mango wood, carved and whitewashed
The box is made from mango wood and hand crafted in India. The whitewashed finish lets the carving sit gently on the surface, with a softer look than dark stained wood.
Because it is hand crafted, small differences in the design and finish are part of the piece. Each one keeps the same calm, decorative spirit, but will not be perfectly identical.
How to use and care for it
Keep it on a dressing table, desk, shelf or bedside table for small personal objects you reach for often. It is best for dry items such as jewellery, keepsakes, notes or tiny ritual pieces.
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid soaking the wood or leaving it in prolonged damp, as natural wood prefers a dry, steady place in the home.
A note on the design
Slavic folk design is often associated with rhythm, symmetry and decorative carving, bringing pattern into everyday household objects rather than reserving beauty for formal pieces. Here, that influence gives the box a gentle storybook quality: pale wood, carved detail and a practical purpose. It feels at home beside natural textiles, candles, books and small pieces of jewellery, adding a little craft and order to the ordinary rituals of the day.
Size and details
Made from mango wood, the box measures 10 x 10 x 6 cm and weighs approximately 215 g. It is part of the White Washed Wooden Box range and is hand crafted in India.
A thoughtful small gift

★★★★★ SHAMTAM customerBrilliant-looking boxes.
These caught my eye as I was wanting a small storage box, but with a bit of style to it. These look just like, 'pirate' style boxes which I love. The wood is solid and well treated, the rivets and straps are real (they don't actually serve a strapping purpose but look great, the hinge is good with a supporting bar to s

★★★★★ SHAMTAM customerBeautiful but clasps are delicate
These boxes are beautiful. There's a tiny padlock. I use the large box for medication and it's perfectly sized to hold them. The smaller one I use for keys and bits and bobs. They really are beautiful. The smaller box's clasp has broken but it's not worth the hassle of returning.

★★★★★ SHAMTAM customerGood quality, more on the medium side.
Great gift set nice box and ribbon, card and pull tissue paper included. Box is more on the medium side, not very deep so wouldn't be able to stack multiple things to keep in mind. But nice presentation and nice box. Good quality.
