These are hand-rolled coated incense sticks on a bamboo core. The fragrance is clearly floral and perfumed, so it is best understood as a violet-scented incense.

Light the coated end, let it flame briefly, then blow it out so the tip glows and releases smoke. Place the plain bamboo end in a heat-resistant incense holder or ash catcher, away from fabrics, draughts and anything loose.

Burn in a ventilated space and never leave incense unattended. Allow the ash to cool fully before clearing it away.
