About this product
The balancing moment
- The bottle sits at a slant, giving the display that quiet ‘how is it doing that?’ feeling without cluttering the table.
- The gecko shape brings a little movement and character, more art object than ordinary bottle stand.
- Natural wood grain keeps the piece warm and organic, so it feels at home with ceramics, linen, glass and candlelight.
- It works beautifully as a dining-table talking point, especially when the first bottle is opened slowly.
- The sculptural form suits a kitchen shelf or drinks corner even when it is not in use.
Carved Suar wood from Indonesia
Each holder is carved from one piece of Suar wood and finished to show the natural pattern of the timber. Suar is valued in Indonesian woodcraft for its warm tone and expressive grain, giving each gecko its own small variations in colour and line.
How to use it
Place the holder on a flat, stable surface, then slide the bottle neck through the opening until the weight settles into balance. It is intended for wine bottles and some similarly shaped olive oil bottles, provided the bottle sits securely.
Keep it indoors and wipe with a soft, dry cloth. As with most natural wood pieces, avoid prolonged damp and strong heat, which can affect the finish over time.
A gecko on the table
Animal forms have long been used in household objects because they bring personality to functional pieces. The gecko feels especially suited to this kind of balancing design: light, alert and adaptable in character, with a body shape that naturally lends itself to the angled pose. Here, the familiar act of setting out a bottle becomes slower and more considered, a small piece of visual play before the meal begins.
