How to burn loose resin safely
Loose resin incense does not self-light. Place a lit charcoal disc in a heat-proof censer, cauldron or fire-resistant bowl, ideally over sand or ash, and wait until the charcoal is glowing and ashed over.
Add a small pinch of resin to the hot charcoal and let the fragrance rise. Never leave burning incense unattended, and keep it away from children, pets and anything flammable.
Where this style of incense comes from
Resin incense is one of the oldest ways to work with fragrance. Long before the convenience of sticks and cones, aromatic tree saps and botanical blends were placed on embers so their oils could release into smoke.
