Gemstone Halo Lamp - Air - Clear Quartz & Selenite

A black circular frame holds a small ring of raw, clear quartz pieces, with pale selenite bars crossing the centre to form the alchemical symbol for Air: an upward triangle cut through by a horizontal line. Lit from within, the stone glows a soft, cool white. It is a lamp made to be looked at as much as switched on, a calm, contemporary piece for a shelf, desk or bedside.

About this product

What you'll notice
  • The selenite bars carry the light along their length, so the triangle reads as a luminous line drawing rather than a solid shape.
  • Rough, uncut quartz pieces sit around the inside of the ring, each catching the glow at a slightly different angle and clarity.
  • The matte black frame and round black base keep the silhouette graphic and simple, letting the stone take the attention.
  • A black cable trails from the base, so it sits best where a socket is within easy reach.
  • It stands upright on its own, a small piece of sculpture that happens to give light.
Form and light

The design is deliberately open. Rather than hiding the light behind a solid block, the circle frames it, and the quartz and selenite are lit from behind and within. Selenite is naturally translucent and fibrous, which is why it glows so evenly. Expect an ambient, decorative light that softens a corner rather than lighting a whole room.

The symbol of Air

In alchemy, each of the four classical elements has its own triangle. Air is drawn as an upward-pointing triangle crossed by a horizontal bar, and it is this figure that the selenite forms at the centre of the lamp. The name selenite comes from Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, which is where the stone's moonlit association comes from. Clear quartz, meanwhile, has long been valued in many traditions as a stone of clarity, and here it makes a fitting, bright border for the symbol.

Materials and care

The lamp is made from gemstone and iron: natural clear quartz and selenite set into an iron frame and base. Because it is natural stone, each piece of quartz will differ in size and shape from the next lamp.

Selenite is a form of gypsum and is water-soluble, so keep this lamp away from damp, steam and humidity, and never wash or soak it. A bathroom or kitchen is not the place for it. The stone is also very soft (about 2 on the Mohs scale, so a fingernail can scratch it), which makes it more delicate than it looks. Clean it only when dry, with a soft brush or cloth, and handle the selenite bars gently.

Living with it

Set it on a level, stable surface such as a sideboard, console or desk, ideally where it will not be knocked. It works especially well in softly lit rooms in the evening, where the pale glow stands out. Lamps of this kind are usually supplied with a fitted cable and an inline switch, and typically use a small bulb that can warm slightly in use, which is normal. The exact bulb, whether one is included, and the plug fitting vary by item, so we suggest checking the listing and the box when it arrives.

A considered gift

It suits someone who likes crystals as objects to live with, enjoys symbolism in their home, or wants a quiet, contemporary light for a reading corner or a desk. It is also a good housewarming gift for a person who already collects stone and mineral pieces.

Common questions

Can I keep it in the bathroom?
No. Selenite dissolves slowly in water and dulls in humidity, so keep it in a dry room.
Will it light up a whole room?
No. It gives a soft, ambient glow, intended as a decorative accent rather than a main light.
How do I clean it?
Only when dry, using a soft brush or cloth. Avoid water and cleaning sprays.
Will mine look exactly like the photo?
The frame, symbol and layout will match, but the raw quartz pieces are natural, so their shapes and clarity vary slightly from lamp to lamp.

    Stunning

I bought this for a yoga, crystal loving friend's Xmas. It's stunning and I'm sure she'll love it. It's heavy with beautiful markings. It comes alive when lit. It was supplied with a warm white bulb but I think I'd prefer it with a cool white light to make it more ice like. Highly recommended!

This lamp was delivered in the time frame stated, it was fairly well packaged and arrived in perfect condition. The light has a lovely relaxing glow, very nice, I would definitely recommend and will probably purchase any in a different size.
