About this product
The scent and how it unfolds
- The aroma is woody and pine-like, opening fresh and sharp, then settling into something drier and more meditative as it burns.
- It carries through a small to medium room without becoming heavy, and the smoke is thinner and more fragrant than many commercial incense sticks.
- The scent lingers softly for an hour or so after the stick has burnt down, leaving the air clear rather than cloying.
- It suits the start of a sitting, a few minutes of reading, or the end of a working day when you want to mark the shift into quieter hours.
How it's made
Each stick is hand-rolled in Nepal from ground juniper berries and needles, mixed with natural binding agents. The process follows a Tibetan tradition of blending raw plant material into incense rather than dipping bamboo cores in fragrance oil, so the scent comes directly from the wood itself. The result is a more honest, less synthetic burn than mass-produced alternatives.
Burning and care
Light the coated tip, let it flame for a few seconds, then blow it out so it glows and begins to smoulder. Stand the plain end upright in the brass holder (included) or lay it flat in a heat-resistant dish. These sticks typically burn for around thirty to forty-five minutes, depending on airflow. Always burn in a ventilated space, never unattended, and keep the window cracked if the room is small.
Juniper in Himalayan tradition
Juniper has been burned across the Himalayas for centuries, traditionally offered to sky spirits in Tibetan practice and used to mark the opening of a meditation session or the cleansing of a space before ritual. The Tibetans called it 'shugpa', and it was valued for its ability to settle the mind and clear the air. Today it is still widely used in Buddhist monasteries and by people who simply want a scent that feels grounding rather than decorative.
What the set contains
Inside the dark green box, bordered with a white geometric pattern and illustrated with a juniper sprig, you will find thirty hand-rolled incense sticks, a small brass holder, and a printed explanatory text. The box itself is sturdy enough to keep and reuse for storage once the incense is gone.
A considered gift
It makes a thoughtful present for someone who meditates, practises yoga, or simply likes a calm corner at home. The handcrafted finish, the clean scent, and the small ritual of lighting it tend to make it a keepsake rather than a passing gift.
