Lights Down at Nine: Evening Relaxation Gift Set

1. At nine, switch off the ceiling light, trim the wooden wick to about 5 mm and light the candle on a heatproof plate.
2. Steep about 4 g of the spice blend in 200 ml of water just off the boil for 5 to 10 minutes, in a small pot or an infuser, and set the cup down on a coaster.
3. Warm a few drops of oil between your palms and work it into your hands, one finger at a time. Put the candle out before you go up, and never leave it burning in an empty room.

• An Agnes + Cat botanical candle, 'Rydal Oudh': soy wax and a wooden wick in a clear glass jar, with pressed yellow flowers on the wax. Bergamot and orange, then violet and rose, on patchouli and sandalwood. It comes in its own white box.
• 50 g of a loose spice blend in a kraft pouch: cinnamon, ginger, cardamom seeds and cloves, with no tea leaves and so no caffeine. About 12 cups at 4 g each.
• A 50 ml amber pump bottle of organic body oil, castor and black cumin seed oils scented with bergamot, made in England.
• Four round coasters of woven jute and cotton, 10 cm across, with a black border.

The pieces arrive together in one parcel. They are not gift-wrapped. The candle jar is glass, so unpack it with care.

The candle is named after Rydal in the Lake District, where William Wordsworth lived at Rydal Mount from 1813 until his death in 1850. Dove Cottage in Grasmere, the house most people picture, was his home for less than nine years.
